Commemorative Cask #1776

Boulder Bourbon Commemorative Cask #1776
The Spirit of 1776

Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of colonists looked at the world’s most powerful empire and said, “You know what? We’ve got an idea.”

To celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we’re releasing something equally bold: Barrel #1776, a single barrel American Single Malt bottled at a rebellious 128.5 proof. Because freedom isn’t watered down.

We’ve known for a while that Barrel #1776 was resting patiently in our rickhouse, and when America’s 250th birthday rolled around, releasing it just seemed fitting. After all, how often does history hand you Barrel #1776 exactly when you need it? Saying no would have been downright unpatriotic.

Only 200 bottles exist, making this release nearly as rare as unanimous agreement in Congress.

Available for the patriotic price of $76.00, this limited bottling is our tribute to the spirit of independence, innovation, and occasionally making decisions that seemed a little crazy at the time. But worked out pretty well.

Tasting Notes

Nose: We cannot tell a lie: there are notes of cherry… Bursting with bright cherry, classic caramel candies, and warm snickerdoodle cookie. A touch of fresh-cut wood lingers beneath the fruit, accompanied by faint hints of Boston Harbor after a particularly memorable tea delivery.

Palate: Rich and full with a smooth, confident mouthfeel. Like crossing the Delaware, but with considerably less hypothermia. Sweet caramel and baking spice arrive first, followed by ripe cherry and layers of oak. The whiskey approaches with the confidence of a midnight ride and settles in with considerably better judgment.

Finish: Long, lively, and just a little bit rebellious, fading slowly into the distance like an eagle soaring over the Rockies, and the taste of redcoat tears.

Bottled at 128.5 proof.
